This Privacy Policy describes how Hone (“Hone,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our platform and services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

• Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and any other details you provide during sign-up via our authentication provider, Clerk.
• Content you create. Class plans, client profiles (including any health or contraindication notes you enter), session logs, and custom exercises you add to the Service.
• Payment information. Billing details are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your full card number or CVV. We receive a customer identifier and subscription status from Stripe.
• Usage data. We automatically collect information about how you interact with the Service — such as pages visited, features used, and timestamps — to help us improve the product.
• Device and technical data. IP address, browser type and version, operating system, and crash reports where applicable.

2. Client Data You Enter

As an instructor, you may enter personal data about your clients — including names, contact details, health conditions, and contraindication flags. You are the data controller for this information. We process it only on your behalf and in accordance with your instructions.

We strongly recommend you obtain your clients’ consent to store their information in a third-party platform before doing so, in accordance with applicable privacy laws in your jurisdiction (including GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations).

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
• To process payments and manage your subscription.
• To send transactional emails (receipts, password resets, trial reminders).
• To respond to support requests and feedback you send us.
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse.
• To send occasional product updates or announcements — you can opt out at any time.

We do not sell your data or your clients’ data to any third party, and we do not use health or contraindication data you enter for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.

4. Sharing Your Information

We may share information with:

• Service providers. Trusted third parties who help us operate the Service, including Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), and our cloud infrastructure provider. These parties are contractually bound to handle your data only as directed by us.
• Legal requirements. If required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hone, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your data is moved to read-only access and retained for 90 days before permanent deletion, giving you time to export anything you need. You may request earlier deletion by contacting us.

Aggregated, anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.

6. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information — including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use session cookies required for authentication and to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We may use minimal analytics to understand aggregate product usage. You can disable cookies in your browser, but doing so may affect the functionality of the Service.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

• The right to access the data we hold about you.
• The right to correct inaccurate data.
• The right to request deletion of your data.
• The right to data portability (receiving your data in a structured, machine-readable format).
• The right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
• The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is intended for professional fitness instructors and is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently done so, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Transfers

Hone is based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice in the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
